WhatsApp to Stop Working on These Android Phones Starting January 2025: Check the Full List

 With the introduction of new features and AI support, WhatsApp will no longer be compatible with older Android phones, as their outdated hardware can't support the latest updates.


WhatsApp is set to stop working on millions of Android phones still running outdated software. As Meta continues to introduce new features and enhancements, including AI support, it is phasing out devices that can’t support these advancements, including older iPhones.

The Android KitKat version, which was released over a decade ago, will no longer be supported by WhatsApp starting January 2025. If you’re still using a phone with Android KitKat, it’s time to consider upgrading to a newer device in order to keep using the messaging app.

Many might wonder why anyone would still be using a phone with Android KitKat, but the fact that WhatsApp has continued to support the OS until now suggests there was a reason to do so. However, come 2025, this will no longer be the case, and the platform’s decision to phase out support means it’s time for users to finally make the upgrade.
